High Tech Product Launch
by Catherine Kitcho

Avg. Customer Review: ***+

***** Comprehensive planning prescription for today's executives, March 13, 2000
Reviewer: Sandhya Narayan from Bribane,CA
It is one thing to scout for promising opportunities; it is another to be capable of turning them into commercial successes. Given the failure rate of 90% for consumer products and 30% for industrial products, launch efforts undertaken by firms today are not just high profile PR stints anymore. In fact in today's hyper-competitive market it is an essential element for future survival/growth of businesses. In her book -High Tech Product Launch, Catherine Kitcho lays down the basic steps required to successfully plan, organize and launch products. The marketing plan, especially, mentioned in chapter 12 of the book is a classic. If followed it definitely ensures clarity and focus for people within the organization and channel efforts towards achieving the strategic objective of the new product. Companies that fail at product launches often lament that they did not co-ordinate launch efforts or communicate effectively. High Tech Product Launch recommends establishing a multi-disciplinary teams to overcome this very problem. I have used the recommendations from the book in more than one instance and have achieved successful results in every instance. I am glad that I spent the time and money on what is perhaps the most comprehensive planning prescription for executives faced with the challenges of a dynamic market environment.

Kotler on Marketing: How to Create, Win, and Dominate Markets
by Philip Kotler

Avg. Customer Review: ****

***** The Maestro of Marketing speaks againż, November 15, 2000
Reviewer: Jill Clardy  from Redwood City, CA USA
Kotler's latest book is a great refresher course on marketing in the new millennium. The organization and prose of the book make it an enjoyable read, not at all academic and stuffy. We're using it as a textbook in an MBA Marketing Strategy course, and it is comprehensive and insightful as to the new challenges of marketing.

A New Brand World:
Eight Principles for Achieving Brand Leadership in the 21st Century

by Scott Bedbury, Stephen Fenichell (Contributor)

Avg. Customer Review: ****+

***** A must read, June 5, 2002
Reviewer: A reader from Minneapolis, MN USA
This is an extraordinary book. The best book on branding that I have read. (I have read almost all of them).
Not only are the real world examples tied to two of the greatest brands in the world: Nike and Starbucks, but the author has a perspective on branding that I thought was keenly insightful and useful to almost anyone who needs to work with and understand brands.
As a an owner of a marketing agency and a professor of strategic communications all I can say is I'm glad I read it (and wish that I had written it.)

Solution Selling
Michael T Bosworth

Avg. Customer Review: *****

An absolute must for all successful sales teams!, 21 August, 2001
Reviewer: (terry_forsey@compuserve.com) from Oxford, England
Bosworth describes this as "Creating buyers in difficult selling markets". It is much more.Solution selling provides a salesman with the practical tools to ensure they truly understand their customers needs, enable them to create a vision of a solution (biast towards their product) and then manage the sales process to deliver a successful sale.

An excellent text for all professional salesmen

Raving Fans: A Revolutionary Approach to Customer Service
by Kenneth H. Blanchard, Harvey MacKay, Sheldon Bowles (Contributor)

Avg. Customer Review: ****

***** IT Professionals should read this NOW, October 16, 2002
Reviewer: B.Sudhakar Shenoy  from Bangalore, India
The new Area Manager is wondering on what could be done to retain his customers and his job. Just then a fairy godmother "Charlie" appears and takes him around to businesses that create raving fans through exemplary customer service. ..

.. Suddenly, the IT industry finds itself swamped by competition and surplus people. Many companies whose stock prices pierced the roof a couple of years ago find themselves in Chapter 11. Customers have won again. They now exercise their choice and demand value for money- not just tech talk by smart yuppies. As in any other industry, only those companies that ensure stellar customer service at all levels of the Organization will be able to succeed. To all those who need to understand these core values I recommend this book.

Guerrilla Pr Wired: Waging A Successful Publicity Campaign
On-Line, Offline, And Everywhere In Between

by Michael Levine, George Gendron

Avg. Customer Review: ****+

***** Extremely Valuable: The New Model For PR, January 31, 2002
Reviewer: Steve Nakamoto, author of Men Are Like Fish
from Huntington Beach, California USA
Here's an excellent book with great inside information from one of America's top PR talents. Michael Levine has put together cutting-edge techniques that he uses himself in his highly-respected PR firm (I'm on his emailing list even though I've only met him once very briefly). But this book has some excellent features that I particularly like such as: sample press releases, sample link proposals, detailed summaries at the end of each chapter, an appendix with media contact information, and a test at the end of the book.

Rethinking the Sales Force
Neil Rackham, John DeVincentis

Avg. Customer Review: *****

Rackham In Touch With Today's World, 25 April, 1999
Reviewer: SBohnenkamp@watlow.com from St. Louis, Missouri, USA
I have always been impressed with how Neil Rackham has a hand on the pulse of what is going on in the current marketplace. In reading his latest book I could have sworn that he has inside information about our company and some of the struggles we are having with keeping customer margins at acceptable levels. His examples about instrinsic and extrinsic customers is right on target and the type of sales organizations you should consider to go after each of these customer segments. Creating customer value is essential in keeping profit margins elevated. Enterprise sales was also an interesting topic, but it did not offer much value to me at this time. Great reading for any sales or marketing person around the world.

Positioning: The Battle for Your Mind
by Al Ries, Jack Trout

Avg. Customer Review: ****+

Why You need to (read as WANT to) Read this Book ???, January 17, 2002
Reviewer: Gopinath Koneti from Hyderabad-India
First things first... Before I joined in my MBA course in Aug-2000, I happened to see this book with my brother who stays in US now. I just could read two chapters( the first chapter and the one on "positioning yourself" and career)...Eventhough for a 17 year old guy (then) I could understand what these two authors wanted to convey. More than a marketing or brand positioning book, I would say this is a commonsense book...If you start the first page, you won't feel like leaving till the last page. SATISFACTION GUARANTEED !

Kellogg on Marketing [DOWNLOAD: ADOBE READER]
by Dawn Iacobucci (Editor), Philip Kotler (Illustrator)

Avg. Customer Review: ****+

***** A must for anyone in marketing!, December 8, 2000
Reviewer: lharting@att.net from New York, NY
This book is sure to be the new marketing bible. Filled with not only the basics of marketing principles--but insight into where marketing/sales/advertising are crossing the lines in the new economy. As a Senior marketing professional who did not get their MBA, I can say that this book will have a useful life on my bookshelf.

***** Its the best book on selling available., 13 April, 1998
Reviewer: Ron Mills(CMRRR@ibm.net) from Westlake Village, California
Tired of books on selling that rehash ancient sales techniques wraped up in new-age mush? Or just provide a pep talk made up of "I've been there before stories?" Well, CUSTOMER CENTERED SELLING will be like a breath of fresh air. Jolles's approach to the customers decision cycle ought to be posted on every sales professional's wall. Its simply the best book ever on the questioning techniques and overall approach to sales you'll ever read.
